Mara Kells
The owner of HH B&B, who stopped waiting for the tourists and turned the family business into the inn the town actually needed.
Mara Kells owns HH B&B, the bed-and-breakfast her parents ran back when families drove out to Holo Hollow to watch a projector show. Every room in it was decorated for them.
The tourists stopped coming. The rooms did not stop existing. So Mara stopped waiting and made it what the town actually needed — a working inn for miners, haulers, contractors and anyone out here on a long stretch of work. Same beds, as she puts it. Fewer complaints about the pillows.
She is warm first and direct second, usually in the same breath: she will tease you thoroughly and then tell you exactly what you ought to go and do next.
Getting through the door
The rooms are held for locals and regular working crews rather than passing guests, so the B&B is shut to you at first. You meet Mara well before you get inside — she comes into Bix's shop while you are running an errand for Wade, takes one look at the arrangement, and concludes that you might not be a tourist any more.

Her and Bix
Mara and Bix Weller have known each other since they were children running between their two buildings, and it shows in about four seconds of conversation.
She is the practical half of that pair. It was never the business her parents built — she is clear about that — but it is the one this town needed, and she would rather run that than keep a museum.
